The laboring men were not satisfied. They truly believed their philosophic objections had been overlooked. A strike meeting was called. The downtrodden workers gathered around. Sweat dripped from their brows, and their backs were bent from daily toil. Shop steward Frank Kowalski gave a speech,
“Let the bosses gather round their silent machines and contemplate their worthlessness. Let them cast stones at our flag of freedom and justice, but we will remain vigilant and idle until they capitulate to our demands. United in defiance, we stand tall and determined. Once lit, the fierce flames in the working man’s heart shall not be quenched, nor shall peace return until the embers lie tranquil in their glow of victory.”
Those gathered grunted their assent.
